Tree Watering Tips
Mandatory Water
Restrictions Lifted – Voluntary Reductions Encouraged
The
Woodlands, TX, November 17, 2011
– Decreased water demands allow The Woodlands MUDs to
lift mandatory water restrictions. Cooler temperatures,
along with noticeable compliance to the Odd/Even lawn
irrigation schedule, prompted lifting the
restrictions enacted in August.
Voluntary restrictions remain in effect.
Customers are encouraged to water landscapes only as
needed and to do everything practical to eliminate waste
of this vital resource. During fall and winter, local
plants and turf grasses go dormant, so no irrigation
water is required. If drought conditions continue, trees
can be watered every three weeks by slow soaking the
root zone.
Montgomery County continues to face a public
water supply crisis.
Excess lawn watering is known to contribute to
this problem. Take control of your irrigation controller
and remove the automatic setting. Water only as needed.
Be part of the solution, not the problem.

Even addresses on Thursdays and
Sundays
To help deliver this important message on water
restrictions, and convey the value of water as a vital
community resource, restaurants are asked to serve water
only on request. For additional information, please
call 281.367.1271, option 4. Your cooperation is
greatly appreciated.

WATER USE PROFILE FOR TYPICAL
WOODLANDS CUSTOMER
|
New rates have been adopted
that continue to encourage conservation in The Woodlands. The table below shows the
new bill amount compared to last year's for the typical
Woodlands customer for each two-month billing cycle.
An additional tier was added with a much higher rate for
usage over 60,000 gallons. To view the water and sewer
rate policies, click
here for the water rates, and
here for the sewer
rates. Usage below 4,000 gallons will actually see a
decrease in your bill!
All1 customers have a maximum
sewer volume applied during summer irrigation use. The
water you use through the winter months determines what you
pay for sewer next summer. So, turn off your sprinkler
systems now to enjoy a low sewer average next summer.

Water Saving
Device Rebate
We offer a 50%
rebate, up to $150.00, on the purchase and
installation of a rain sensor, ET Smart Controller,
or other water
saving device for your sprinkler
system. A rain sensor will detect the presence
of rain and shut off your system automatically. This alleviates the large problem in The Woodlands
of numerous sprinklers running during a rain event.
The ET Smart Controller offers several ways to save
water. It considers evaporation and
transpiration rates, humidity, temperature and
rainfall before allowing the sprinkler system to
apply water.
The WJPA office
can provide a list of approved water saving devices
and irrigation contractors who install those
devices. The list of contractors can be accessed in PDF
format
here. Contact Customer Service at
281-367-1271 for information on obtaining your
rebate, up to $150.00!
